Have you found yourself staring at your old shoe boxes full of photos? Have you ever put together your first page? Here are a few basic ideas to bring back all those photo memories!

"Back to the Basics"

  • Sort your photos and select a theme to work on. You can select up to 7 photos for a double page and up to 3 to 5 photos for a single page.

  • Select 2 to 3 colors of basic cardstock.

  • Select one page of printed paper or vellum that fits well with your chosen color scheme. It is always wise to lay your photos on the cardstock when selecting your paper.

  • Choose your focal point photo.

  • Crop your photo - cut away parts of the photo you don't want to use.

  • Mat your photo - cut out a mat larger than your photo using the color nearest to your photo that you wish to use.

  • Cut the second mat slightly larger than the first mat.

  • Stick your photo on the first mat you cut. Now stick to the second mat that you cut out.

  • Place and arrange your embellishments, title, and journal on the page.

  • Once you are pleased with your layout, adhere the elements to the page.

  • As you get more comfortable and gain confidence in scrapbooking, try your hand with some stickers, die cuts, stamps, 3d-foam, punches etc.
